Master Class Sessions on Our Course List

School’s in session(s).

Among celebrities, teaching a Master Class has taken on a TED-like prestige. And who among us hasn’t envisioned we’d be cooking like Roy Choi or disrupting things like Richard Branson after watching? Yet, like that gym membership that lapses and renews, we find ourselves registering with big energy in January, then falling off the wagon by March. That’s why we were so reinvigorated by the introduction of Master Class Sessions, featuring a 30-day sprint with actual assignments and feedback—and a tangible outcome. So if you, too, have a dusty Master Class membership (or have been searching for a reason to get in a game), we’ve rounded up our three favorite session offerings to welcome you back to school.

Run the table.

The negotiating table, that is. We’ve long been intrigued by the strategies of master negotiators. After all, even if a major trade deal isn’t at stake, negotiation is part of everyday life whether we realize it or not. This session on Winning Workplace Negotiations intrigues us—and we imagine its lessons extend far beyond the office. Chris Voss is a former FBI negotiator with a steely stare, so we’re willing to bet he could help us get more of what we want.

Let your talent bloom.

Ever since writing our very own article on making arrangements from grocery store flowers, we’ve been delivering beautiful creations to ourselves, from ourselves, on the regular. And while the basic formula has held up, we’re excited to take it to the next level—so this session on designing stunning (yes, please) floral arrangements is just what we needed. You might recognize instructor Maurice Harris from the floral competition show “Full Bloom on HBO.” Stay tuned and see how we grow.

Get content with your content.

We’re willing to guess that during pandemic times you, too, ran a small production studio that required a self-directed video/lighting 101 course. So it seems this session highlighting how to make compelling, viral-destined videos could offer the graduate-level next step we need. And while virality may not be our end goal, there’s no shame in learning to create relevant content on today’s platforms, or in becoming more skilled and strategic about your videos. You’ll find us ready for our close-up in no time.
